Trades with professionals in Barcelona

• Electricians

  27 available

An electrician installs, extends and repairs electrical wiring: light points, sockets, consumer units and new circuits for the kitchen or the air conditioning. Some of the work can only be signed off by a licensed installer, such as the electrical certificate (CIE) the distribution company asks for before connecting the supply or increasing capacity.

• Plumbers

  23 available

A plumber installs and repairs everything that carries water in a home or business: pipes, taps, drains, toilets and basins, water heaters and boilers. Most call-outs are small faults fixed in a single visit, so what weighs most on the bill is the call-out fee and the time of day you ring.

• Painters

  20 available

A painter prepares and paints the walls and ceilings of homes, shops and shared buildings: filling cracks, skimming, removing gotelé and applying as many coats as needed. Jobs are quoted per square metre, and what moves the price most is the state of the walls and whether the home is empty or furnished.

• Hospitality professionals

  19 available

Waiters, cooks, kitchen assistants, dishwashers and bar staff who cover one-off shifts, events and busy periods. It is the sector where the day-to-day shows most: a last-minute sick call or an event that grows from 50 to 120 guests is solved with people available today.

• Bricklayers

  18 available

A bricklayer does the building work: putting up and knocking down partition walls, tiling walls and floors, fixing cracks and damp and getting everything ready for the plumber, electrician and painter. They are hired by the day or by the job, and the gap between collective-agreement pay and the price of a single day is wide.

• Carpenters

  18 available

A carpenter makes, fits and repairs anything made of wood or board: doors, built-in wardrobes, kitchens, floating floors, skirting boards and made-to-measure furniture. Many also do the fine adjustments nobody else does: a door that sticks, a sagging hinge or a drawer that will not close.

• Delivery drivers

  17 available

Delivery drivers with their own vehicle — bike, motorbike, car or van — for last-mile deliveries, one-off routes and order peaks. For shops and restaurants they are the backup that stops you losing sales on a Friday night or in the middle of a busy season.

• HVAC technicians

  16 available

An HVAC technician installs, cleans, regasses and repairs air conditioning units, heat pumps and ventilation systems. Handling refrigerant gas requires an F-gas certificate; without one, nobody should open up your unit's refrigerant circuit.

• Drivers

  14 available

Professional drivers to move people or goods: van and lorry drivers, drivers for transfers and people to cover a route when someone drops out. What decides who can do the job is the driving licence and, in professional transport, the CAP (Certificate of Professional Competence).

• Entertainers

  11 available

Children's entertainers, activity leaders, magicians, clowns and entertainment staff for birthdays, weddings, company events and summer camps. In entertainment the day and time are everything: the party is on Saturday at five, not any other day.

• Security professionals

  11 available

Security guards, access control staff and support personnel for events, building sites, shops and residential buildings. In private security there is a clear line: guarding duties can only be carried out by a licensed security guard working through an authorised security company.

• Dressmakers

  8 available

Dressmakers and seamstresses for alterations, made-to-measure clothing and last-minute adjustments: hems, waists, zips, party outfits and costumes. It is a made-to-order trade where the deadline rules, especially before weddings and events.

• Hair and beauty professionals

  8 available

Hairdressers, barbers, beauticians, nail technicians and make-up artists who work at home visits, at events or covering gaps in salons. On Freeday they are mostly used in two ways: individuals who need someone today for an event, and salons that have to cover sick leave or a busy spell.
