What a driver does

Professional drivers to move people or goods: van and lorry drivers, drivers for transfers and people to cover a route when someone drops out. What decides who can do the job is the driving licence and, in professional transport, the CAP (Certificate of Professional Competence).

Most requested jobs for a driver

  • Covering a delivery route

For a day or a week because of sick leave, holidays or a spike in orders.

  • Lorry or large van driver

For house moves, building sites or one-off transport that requires a C1 or C licence.

  • Passenger transfers

A driver for an event, a company transfer or to take a vehicle from one place to another.

  • Moving a vehicle

Taking a van to the garage, collecting a hire car or returning a fleet vehicle.

Emergency: what to do until the driver arrives

State the type of vehicle and its maximum authorised mass, the route, the hours and whether there is loading and unloading. That way each professional knows whether they hold the right licence. If the vehicle is yours, check before handing over the keys that your insurance covers a driver other than the usual one.
